How can counselling help?

In my experience, the counselling can offer an ideal opportunity to understand various relationships in your life both past and present, this counselling ‘space’ and time allowing you the freedom to explore the myriad of psychological, social and spiritual areas of your life – should you wish to do so; this is YOUR counselling session to use as you wish….this is very much your ‘journey’ for you to travel.

the way appears.”

Counselling & Psychotherapy

I work collaboratively with all my clients, facilitating great opportunity to explore a wide range of emotional experiences whilst respecting my clients’ right to autonomy within the counselling relationship.

I believe that as human beings we are our own best authority on our personal experience of life, and I view my role in the relationship as facilitator for growth and healing.

I offer a safe, authentic, non-judgemental and empathic experience within the counselling relationship.

I see counselling as a way of exploring the personal experience of life with a person who is both trained and experienced in facilitating people to search for a more happy, satisfying and meaningful way of living their life; the reasons and desire for counselling are many and varied.

I see individual and couples who wish to discuss whatever issues they feel they wish to talk about.

Living with serious & life-threatening illness

Whatever the issues that bring people to counselling whether it is divorce or separation, physical health issues or life threatening illness, cancer, life transitions, anxieties, sexuality, grief – counselling can be useful in providing qualified and unbiased support to find a way forward.

Over my many years of experience of supporting and working with clients, I have become increasingly interested in Neuropsychology and the way that emotional issues affect the body as a whole and I enjoy my progression and study in finding out more in this specialised field of work, through my ongoing continuing professional development. As a counsellor, my role is to facilitate and accompany you to on your journey of self-discovery, also to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices within it…..if you choose to do so.

Just as illness affects your physical health, it can bring up a wide range of feelings that you may be unaccustomed to dealing with. It can also make existing feelings feel more intense. They may change daily, hourly, or even minute to minute. These emotions may be occurring whether you are currently in treatment, finished treatment…or possibly you are a friend or family member. Often the values you grew up with can affect the way you cope with your illness, in particular cancer, which can sometimes have a particular social stigma attached to it. You may, for example:

  • Feel that you have to be ‘strong’ to protect friends and family
  • You may want to seek support and turn to loved ones, but have concerns about upsetting them.

You may be feeling:

  • Overwhelmed
  • In denial
  • Feel angry
  • Frightened
  • Sad and depressed
  • Guilty
  • Lonely

My experience enables me to listen and ‘hear’ you in order to be able to support you, by working with your fears and difficulties together we can out the best coping strategies that you feel will work for YOU.

Please do get in touch for an initial conversation free of charge to discuss how counselling can help you with your difficulties.
